Catch up!!

Well, it's been almost a month since I've last posted, so I'll try to remember everything that has happened since.

Practicum is going well, I've been getting my hands up, but not as much as I wanted. I had a whole week full of hours that got dropped all at once, crap!! I felt a little concerened about my hours for a while, not knowing If I could meet the requirement, but then Carla (my other mentor) came through and got me a SUPER SWEET JOB!!!! FOR A WEEK!!!! 40HOURS!!!! I did the most stupid happy dance ever, good thing no one saw me. I've been getting my hands into everything that I can and decided I LOVE this job. I even have some ideas that the reading program (here at DCS) could do, so I'm going to try and run that by the teacher and see how she feels about it. Other than helping out in the office, reading program, and the nessesary requirements for Bethel, thats my intern in a nutshell.

As for my life outside DCS, its been kind of boring and interesting at the same time. The boring part begins when I get home from DCS; watch T.V., prep, and eating dinner (well, I like eating dinner, i guess thats not boring.)
I went to a Subaru car meet a few weeks back and that was awesome. I got to meet a few people, we hung out, had a bonfire at the beach, ate some nasty burgers (seriously, white and not sure what it was made of.). That was a good time, but sadly I have to miss this months meet, insted my sister is comming to visit for a weekend and I'm very pumped about her comming!!

I also made some friends here at DCS, like Charlie (she's a chick), Oscar, Amanda, Eric, Darlene, Amy, and Megan (we both like to express our love for cheese and food in general). I love it here at DCS, its so relaxed and I really enjoy the people here. I also love going to the reading program (program for MLS and Deaf students wanting to go to college)to help out, it helps me think outside the box more and its awesome when the students give you that big nod and tell you they understand.
I also met this guy at a social event that had me convinced that he was Deaf....and he's in ASL 3 at Mesa college. WOW! His name is Jason, he asian with red tipped hair, and Him and I have been talking and hanging out at the "GOD given" In and Out. One of the best burgers I have ever tasted in my life, and cheap too.

I don't recall what the last 'pull-over' was about, but let me refresh. I got pulled over in MO for haveing 2 license plates, that cop was cool. I got stopped at a check point and questioned about the license plates. I got pulled over again after i ruined my orange shirt and tried to look for its replacement, that cop called me 'boy' walked backwards to his cuiser keeping an eye on me and bascily was parinoid. I got pulled over again for the plates and was acused for having a stolen bike (becuase I took the front wheel off to make my bike fit in the car).

I got pulled over for the last time for the plates (this one was the coolest). After being pulled over and handing over my license and registration, I waited for what seemed like forever. All of sudden I see another cruiser pull up behind the original and thats when I kind of freaked. The second cop stood behind my car, analizing it while the other came back to my window. " What were you arested for?!" he asked me. I thought he was joking, but he aske me again. "Nothing" I told him. He gives me a funny look and asked "Are you sure?" "Positive" I said. "You weren't in chula vista for something?" he asked. "No!, I just got here a few weeks ago." I reply. He givves me another funny look and walks back to his car. At this point, I was hopeing he would hand-cuff me because that would of been an awesome story to tell. He came back, telling me he had me mixed up with another Jesse Carlos Vasquez, born on June 18, 1986, Mine being June 17th, 1986. My hope had disapeared, but was still a really cool story. :)He let me go and I decided to go to the Home Depot and buy a pair of pliers and pull and rip the old plate off. From then on out, I've had no problems what so ever.

I also got to meet up with a friend that I had not seen in 5 years since we were camp counselors. that was a good time, and really hope to see her again before I leave.

Other than this, nothing too exciting happened. I will try to be better at keeping up with the bloggs, but having no comp at home makes it a little hard. ;) hope everyone is doing grand!

Slight Home Sickness

Hey all!
Well, week one is over and I loved it this week! I am, however, feeling a slight homesickness coming on. I miss my wife, I miss my friends (all you from classes and non Bethel friends!) and i miss my car. I'm not feeling that I want to go home, but more feeling that home should come here! haha. I love San Diego, but I know of somethings that could make it better. :)

Ok, well, i didn't feel like starting another post for this, so here it goes. Remember when I talked about how I love S.D. driving here on the freeways? I love it a lot!! I love the 4 and 5 lane highways and weaving in and out of traffic. I'm not saying I'm a pro at it...yet, but lets just say that Katey was very impressed with how I adapted to it. This is where my car comes in, my little blue subaru, oh how I miss thee. Anyway, yea it is fun with the protege, but it would be more fun in somthing that had better handing, and looks too ;p. And so far i'm hoping to meet some other subaru owners and help one of them swap engines (if he hasn't done it yet.)

Well, I'm sure that is enough non-sense for one blog. See you all later!!!

Problems Already!?

Well, I've been in San Diego for four days now and already I've had some problems! :(

It all started tues night on my way home from an observation and I notice some other cars weaving in an out of traffic (By the way, I love the freeways here! I'll talk about it in a little bit) so I decided I wanted to keep up. Before I even started, my car starts sputtering and coughing and my check-engine light is flashing. Oh yea, if that happens and you are driving long distance, I strongly advise to pull over. That can lead to engine damage in the Long run. Anywho, I'm not too far from home and I know what problem is so pulling over was not an option for me. I head over to the AutoZone before going home and ask to use their OBD II tester (Check the check-engine light), but it turns out that California banned free testing!! What the crap! So, I buy what I know I need, sparkplug and some anti-sieze lube, and head home to troubleshoot what is wrong. By now, it is 8:30 and I pull into the garage and change out of my terp clothing and get to work on the car. I know I have been having problems from cylinder 2 and the sparkplug going out in that cylinder. I check that first and It looks pretty bad. I change it and put everything back together and ta-da! It's fixed. Although small, it was annoying that it happened.

My next problem happened last night at around the same time (I wonder if God is trying to tell me something :P). I went in for the SICK-AWESOME observation and did my thing till it was over. I was talking to the terp that was there ( Carla, amazing person and translitterator) and we were heading out to our cars when I notice that my keys are not in my pocket. CRAP!! I panic for a second, but realize that my trunk can be opened with another key ( I had recently broke a key off in there by accident, so it is now perminently unlocked). So, I flag down Carla and ask for her keys and open the trunk. I take some things out and crawl through the truck and unlock the door. Yea, I know! Its funy to imagine a big guy like me crawling though the trunk of my car, but it was easy. Well, here is where the next problem poped up. Remember the Anti-sieze I bought the night before for the sparkplug? Yea, I left the open package in the trunk and didn't move it at all. I got home and Katey noticed right away that my Burnt-Orange shirt had stains on the side, that was my favorite shirt!!! Well, that shirt was ruined because not only did I get stains, but apparently I also snagged it on something while I was crawling through the car because there was a nice little hole on the back. Bummer! So now I am going to find a store to buy another shirt or two. Good Times.

Those were the problems so far, maybe it'll give some of you a good chuckle. :)

I finally made it!

Well, I guess its been a few days since I made it to San Diego, but I tell the tale.

After many moons of traviling, I made it to sunny San Diego! Well, sort of. Somehow I brought crappy weather with me and it rained for the first two days here. :P When I got into San Diego, I had my trusty directions to lead me to Katey's house right in front of me. I took I-8 west to I-125 N to I-52 W to I-15 S. "Ok" I told myself. "Not bad, I'll be there in a few." I kept driving south and I started to notice things did not fit, I also noticed that when I looked up the location of Kateys house it was on the north end of S.D. So, I got off an exit (I don't remember which, I know it was DOWNTOWN S.D. ) I realize that mapquest wasn't so trusty (or maybe I was the moron that wrote S insred of N.) So I quickly get back on I-15 N. and find Kateys with ease. Not too much happened after I arrived, I unloaded the car and ate. And that was Sunday, the day I arrived to S.D. !!!
